The need for large companies to acquire small companies is necessary in order for the former to capture new products and services.\u00a0 According to <em>Fortune <\/em>magazine, &#8220;Big companies almost never innovate. This is unfortunate because innovation is one of the few ways to gain proprietary advantage and stay profitable.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not that innovation itself is rare \u2013 it&#8217;s occurring everywhere.\u00a0 Which means, mostly, elsewhere.\u00a0 And as engineers and inventiveness continue to flourish in China and India, elsewhere moves farther and farther from here.\u00a0 A healthy business must therefore not only innovate more within its walls but leverage innovation elsewhere too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo why is innovation so hard for big companies?\u00a0 The main reason is that innovative people tend to prefer working in smaller organizations that have more focus and less bureaucracy.\u00a0 Even in small companies, adopting a large-company style can frustrate the innovators.<br \/>\n\u201cThe problem with large companies isn&#8217;t that they fail to do large and seemingly ambitious projects; it&#8217;s that they fail to do small, quirky, controversial projects\u00a0 \u2013 that\u00a0 have the potential to grow.\u00a0 (If everyone thinks an idea is okay, how can it be innovative?)\u00a0 A large organization \u2013 its missions threatened by new ideas \u2013 is often incredibly hostile to its own innovators; the antibodies to change are strong.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Small companies are the innovators.
