The Selling Process

Many business owners calling for our services have never sold a business before.  As such, they have many questions about what is involved in the process. 

VR Business Sales/Mergers & Acquisitions on Maui is a full service broker.  Once you have signed a listing agreement with us, we act only as a Seller’s Agent, and your only responsibility will be to provide us with requested information and to keep running your business in the profitable manner you always have.  You leave the rest to us. 

We have found that there are two things a Seller is always most interested in finding out about.  First, what is involved in the selling process and second (and obviously the more important concern), how much their business is really worth.

Below is a brief outline of how we handle the selling process:

• We gather information from you regarding your business (and if the sale of real estate is involved, info about that – we handle both).
• We then compile an extensive Confidential Business Profile which averages from 25 to 30 pages.
• We look over your financial information and recast the information, putting it into a form that is the most informative for potential buyers.
• Both the Profile and the re-casted financial information are given to you for your review and approval.
• Once approved by you, the two are merged and your business is listed.  We make extensive use of the internet in marketing your business and reach buyers not locally, but on the mainland (where we get the majority of our buyers) an internationally as well.
• When a buyer inquires about your business, we send them a Non-Disclosure Agreement and Buyer’s Financial Statement to fill out.  This is our first step in protecting your confidentially and discerning if a potential buyer has the financial capability to purchase a business of your worth. 
• If a potential buyer wishes to talk with you or tour the business, we are involved and present in both processes.
• Once we find a buyer for you, we assist them in making an offer, presenting you with all offers made.
• We handle all counters and finalizations.  As your intermediary there never has to be any direct negotiations between you and the buyer.
• Once the offer is accepted, our real work is just starting, and again we handle everything until the deal is closed.
