David Schlegel  opened the  VR First Coast in 2005 . He had completed his last corporate role in 1999 , and had, at the age of 47,  relocated to his  Oceanfront  2^nd home  on Amelia Island Plantation  just North of Jacksonville, FL. and a stone’s throw from the Georgia Border.

After several years of  involvement with  non-profit Boards, occasional  consulting and lots of recreation, David yearned get back on the business fast-track without the international travel and time pressures that he had previously dealt with as CEO of an International Company. He also felt that he had a special appreciation for and relationship with other small and mid-market company owners since he had been in their shoes and faced many of the same issues.  Consequently, He opened VR First Coast to serve North Florida and South Georgia Business owners and to help them realize their financial goals from the sale of their business as he had done some years before.
