Meet Our Team

Phil is a life-long resident of Chattanooga.  His business career began when his father created Bacon Business Products which manufactured and sold patent medicines.  From that early beginning as a wholesale account manager, Phil has owned a number of successful businesses including several franchises.   

Before a family health problem required his complete attention, he owned another business brokerage firm for several years.  Once freed from that commitment, Phil acquired the Chattanooga VR Business Brokers franchise in 2006. 

 

One of Phil's claims to success is having sold a franchise business to another individual who built it into a very successful system.  Several years ago, that individual sold that business and become a VR franchisee in what is now one of the largest and most successful offices.  Today, the Chattanooga office and that office work together very closely on listings and projects. 

Phil's goal is to successfully guide seller's through the complex process of a sale while maximizing the value and minimizing the complex details of a sale.

When not working, Phil can be found somewhere on his Harley.

 

 

Don learned the value of hard work while growing up on a farm in Western Pennsylvania.  Those values have served him well through a three year Marine Corps tour of duty and beginning to learn the steel fabrication business in Southern California.  He eventually became a general partner in that firm which specialized in replacement parts for cement mixers and Department of Defense contracts.

After many years, Don sold that business and moved to Chattanooga where he started another steel fabrication company with his son.  He sold that business and entered business brokerage with Phil Bacon, the Chattanooga VR Business Brokers franchisee. 

When Phil sold that business, Don returned to steel fabrication as an estimator for a local firm.  Phil's re-entry into business brokerage, once again, appealed to Don's entrepreneurial spirit causing him to join the Agency at is beginning.

Don is accomplished musician playing a variety of instruments including the fiddle and piano.  He plays with a well known local group that has a wide regional appeal.

Ron began his career as an accountant with Ernst & Ernst, one of the then Big 8 International CPA firms.  That career spanned fifteen years and included time with both small and large firms and eight years in his own practice in Charleston, SC.  Although his interests were initially directed toward manufacturing, the advent of Medicare created many new accounting and consulting opportunities, and Ron was with a large firm that had a significant hospital audit practice at the time.

An operational consulting firm grew out of that practice and his experience broadened significantly.  The focus shifted from technical auditing to operational (financial) improvement.  Thereafter, Ron spent many years as a hospital or hospital system management CFO with facilities ranging from 19 to 600 beds. 

In that role, Ron’s experience in financing new ventures, refinancing existing operations and buying and selling businesses expanded.  As a small business owner providing accounting and tax services to small and mid-sized clients, he also has deep insight into both sides of a business sale transaction.  This vast experience can now benefit both business sellers and prospective buyers.  His entire career has required discreet, confidential relationships, and he looks forward to the opportunity to offer his services to the clients of VR of Chattanooga!

When not working, Ron can be found spending time with his grandchildren, following sports or involved with a Bible prison ministry.
