Meet Our Team

Don Godsey – Founder of VR in Bentonville, Arkansas in 2002 after a very diverse business career spanning 30 years.  Chief among his accomplishments is his association with Dean Witter as a Registered Representative with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), having acquired a Series 7 and Series 63 License. At Dean Witter Mr. Godsey became interested in Mergers & Acquisitions and often thought how great it would be to be able to bring tax strategies and organizational disciplines used in large transactions to small and mid-market sized companies. To this end Mr. Godsey is an avid “Small Business Advocate” and firmly believes when it is time to buy or sell a company that hope is not a strategy. He also graduated from the Cameron School, Houston, Texas with certifications in Metallurgy, Fluid Power Systems, Tool & Die, Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Processes.

Mr. Godsey has owned and operated several businesses including a True Value Hardware store complete with lumberyard and farm supply, a Manufacturer’s Representative Agency and Distribution Company setting up automotive tool and equipment distribution throughout several western states and a Snap-On Tools Franchise.  He was invited to work with the company directly and rehabilitated distressed territories across the nation. Mr. Godsey is a graduate of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Academy and served in law enforcement for 4 years.

With this diverse background, Mr. Godsey brought two sons into the family business where he is passionate about helping today’s small business owner.

Carol Godsey - Carol Godsey is co-founder of the Bentonville, Arkansas franchisee of VR Business Brokers. Prior to joining VR, Carol was a Flight Attendant for United Airlines and, along with her husband, Don, owned and operated several other successful businesses spanning 3 decades. Through this extensive experience, Carol has gained a fundamental understanding for buyers and sellers and is uniquely equipped to guide them through the business transfer process, locating appropriate business opportunities for Buyers and knowledgeable in marketing a Seller’s business all the way through the transfer process to its successful conclusion. With this diverse background and genuine interest in people, Carol is dedicated to helping buyers and sellers achieve their highest personal goals. Married over 36 years, Carol and Don have three sons; two have joined the company and have acquired their designation as Certified Business Intermediary (CBI). All successful in their chosen fields, son three is a computer programmer for Arkansas National Bank and independent businessman. Carol is licensed Real Estate Agent, a member of International Business Brokers Association (IBBA) and the local chamber of commerce.

Scott Godsey – From 1985 to 1991 active duty United States Navy on the SSBN U.S.S. James Monroe.  Owned and operated Snap-On-Tools franchise from 1991-2001.  Restored a bankrupt territory into one of the top 10 territories in the mid-west region for 7 of 10 years.  Managed health care clinic from 2001-2004, established operating procedures, policies and marketing that grew the revenues and net profit of the facility 400% in two years.  2004-Current Business intermediary for VR in Bentonville, Arkansas.  Received CBI designation from IBBA, specializes in business valuation and transaction negotiations.

Jason Godsey – 1991 to 1995 United States Marine Corps Twenty-Nine Palms, CA, 1996-1997 Department manager True Value Hardware in charge of customer service, inventory control and payroll. 1997-2005 owned and operated a Mac Tools Distributorship consistently in the top 15% of dealers in the country with the highest sales of automotive equipment in the state.  2006 - Current Business intermediary for VR in Bentonville, Arkansas. He has earned his CBI designation from IBBA and specializes in financial recasting and marketing.
