Pizza Fusion was founded with a goal of filling a void in the restaurant sector for fresh, organic, handcrafted food.
Our menu is aimed at attracting not only the typical pizza consumer who desires good tasting pizza, but also consumers who follow a vegan and organic lifestyle and consumers who battle with Celiac disease, as we offer gluten-free pizzas. We strive for our food to not just be great tasting, but also to be healthier than the food served at many other restaurants.
Our vision and goal is to be globally recognized in the pizza, organic and franchising sectors as a prosperous, principle-based company that's dedicated to serving great tasting, fresh, all natural and organic products, while providing the best service and delivery and serving as a leading example of a socially responsible business.
The key elements of Pizza Fusion’s restaurant concept are as follows:
- Quality food -- Each Pizza Fusion restaurant serves freshly prepared, local, organic, high quality cuisine, designed to appeal to a variety of tastes and budgets. We designed our menu with an emphasis on reasonably and moderately-priced signature items of particular appeal to each local market.
- Healthy-based themes -- Pizza Fusion’s focus is on health-related themes with mass appeal.
- Distinctive design features -- Pizza Fusion has worked with a number of restaurant designers with a view towards creating restaurants with a modern and appealing visual and functional design.
- Each restaurant embodies a number of eco-friendly elements and is built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) specifications. From the non-VOC paints on the walls to the reclaimed wood dining tables, Pizza Fusion’s restaurants are designed to offer an eco-friendly experience for our guests.
- Quality service -- We place a strong emphasis on providing attentive and friendly service. In addition, each pizza box is stamped and personally signed by the preparing chef, and delivery orders come with a personalized "Thank You" postcard from management.
Restaurant Industry Analysis
Although the restaurant industry is very competitive, the lifestyle changes created by modern living today continue to fuel growth. The average consumer tends to have less time, resources, and ability to cook for themselves. Trends are very important and we believe that Pizza Fusion is well positioned to take advantage of the growing interest in organic, all natural, and healthier foods at reasonable prices.
According to the National Restaurant Association website, today’s consumers spend 44% of every food dollar on meals, snacks and beverages purchased away from home. We believe that purchasing prepared foods and dining out are no longer considered luxuries but are considered to be components of today’s convenience driven lifestyle.
With over 945,000 restaurant locations nationwide, the restaurant industry’s direct sales are currently $566 billion a year – more than $1.5 billion a day.
In 2009, the National Restaurant Association released a food service industry report that forecasted how the industry might look in the upcoming years. The report included the following findings, among others:
- Nutritional concerns will be critical at all types of food service operations and food flavors will be important.
- Environmental concerns will receive increased attention.
- Consumers will spend a greater proportion of their food dollar away from home.
- Independent operators and entrepreneurs will be the main source of new restaurant concepts.
- 68% of adults said their favorite restaurant foods provide flavor and taste sensations, which cannot easily be duplicated in their home kitchen.
- 76% of adults said they are trying to eat healthier now at restaurants than they did two years ago.
- 70% of adults said they are more likely to visit a restaurant that offers locally produced food items.
- 69% of adults said purchasing meals from restaurants and take-out and delivery places make it easier for families with children to manage their day-to-day lives.
- 52% of adults said they are likely to make a restaurant choice based on how much a restaurant supports charitable activities and the local community.
Organic foods and beverages are becoming part of the American mainstream. According to the Organic Trade Association, approximately 66% of consumers buy organic foods and beverages at least occasionally and about 10% of consumers buy them regularly or at least a few times per week. Largely, organic food and beverage sales are growing at a much faster pace than overall food and beverage sales, resulting in an increasing market share.
The Organic Trade Association reported that from 2007 to 2008, the growth rate for organic food and beverage sales in the U.S. increased 15.8% to over $22.9 billion, which is faster than the rate of growth for conventional food products. Organic food and beverage sales in the U.S. were projected to surpass $25 billion in 2009 and the level of organic market penetration has nearly doubled in the past five years.
Our Restaurants
We believe that, in today's competitive marketplace, the design of a restaurant plays a critical role in attracting and keeping customers. Our newest prototype restaurant was designed with a focus on every detail of the design and layout of our restaurants - including how food travels from the kitchen to a customer's table, how customers and employees circulate and specifications for restaurant furnishings. Our restaurants are designed to create a modern, yet comfortable environment with color, pattern, textures, lighting, and acoustics. Our goal is for our restaurants to become a local gathering spot that is a perfect blend for all of our guests regardless of age.
Large murals and graphics are utilized to create a dramatic backdrop that also reflects our commitment to a cleaner planet. Finally, our restaurants are designed and built to LEED certification standards.
Menu
The Pizza Fusion menu is a moderately-sized and reasonably-priced offering of organic and gourmet food with a common theme – flavorful and healthy with natural and organic ingredients with no added hormones, pesticides, antibiotics or other artificial additives. We also offer gluten-free and vegan menu items. Whenever possible, we attempt to utilize locall-produced food products for inclusion in our recipes and products. Not only does this reduce the environmental impact of our restaurants, but we also believe that it enables our customers to have a real sense of giving back to their local communities.
